About Dinosaur Jr’s acoustic version of Just Like Heaven (and more…).

dinosaurjr

After reading the info on Chain Of Flowers about Dinosaur Jr covering Just Like Heaven and having an interview up about how much they love The Cure, I got straight away to the web page were all of this is published.

If you didn’t watch it yet, it’s actually here.

It’s a video for a series entitled Uncovered, and Dinosaur Jr play a live acoustic version of that song that they even released as a single long time ago. The interview is really just a little introduction to the song, and even if it’s not a surprise the fact that they appreciate The Cure, it’s soo cool to hear it from their voice, and with the little stories about meeting Robert and stuff.

The live arrangements of this version are very nice. I didn’t expect the big scaring YOU! in this version, but they honored their first original cover and put it in, and kept the dry ending of the song on the first YOU! of the second chorus, as well.

Anyway, you should probably know that some weeks ago I thought of writing a little post about the latest Dinosaur Jr’s album, even thought it’s not Cure-related, and after all I got a category up for this kind of things.

In the end I didn’t, because I felt it would have been a little intrusive here.

But there you go, the name made it to Chain Of Flowers, and so I thought about grabbing the occasion to mention that to me Dinosaur Jr / J Mascis comes right after The Cure (in a long list of names, by the way).

And since we’re here, and we are talking about it, they just released a new album, entitled “Farm”, and it’s just wonderful.

It got that sound that really does something to me, and it’s one of those albums that you just listen all day long and makes you feel… home.

The song Plans is a masterpiece. It just moves something inside of me, and it’s the kind of song you would like to live in, if such a thing would be possible.

Another favorite is Over It (it’s hard to try not to spin around the room when you listen to it). And another favorite is See You. And then there is There’s No Here. Well…

Anyway, you may want to check the new Dino album out, and while you’re at it, check all their previous stuff as well. It’s worth it.
